About JustGammon

JustGammon is an online backgammon platform for playing with other people, challenging computer opponents, creating private games, or watching games as a spectator.

The game is designed to be usable with mouse, touch, keyboard, and screen readers. The app keeps its interface short and focused on playing, while longer information such as help, rules, accessibility guidance, pricing, privacy, terms, and support lives here in JustGammon Docs.

JustGammon enables blind and sighted players to share the same graphical backgammon game, each using the interaction method that works best for them. Both players use the same match, board state, dice, score, and game actions; there is no separate audio-only edition and no need for another person to describe the board.

Many online board games render their boards primarily as graphics or canvas content. A graphical board alone does not expose its points, pieces, or changing state to a screen reader unless an accessible semantic interface is also provided.

JustGammon exposes board points, checkers, bars, bear-off trays, dice, and legal destinations as meaningful controls while preserving the complete visual board. A sighted player can play visually with mouse or touch while a blind opponent explores and operates the same board with a screen reader, touch exploration, standard web navigation, or direct keyboard controls.

See Accessibility for the available interaction methods and Keyboard Shortcuts for direct board navigation and spoken game information.

JustGammon is available on:

  • Web

  • Android
  • Console versions for Windows, macOS, and Linux

Use the JustGammon Portal to return to the main website and choose where to play.

See Platforms and Interaction for the differences between browser navigation, direct keyboard interaction, installed mobile applications, and the console variants.
